I can personally point to the ECU symposium as the reason I was given professional opportunities in the crucial years post graduate school. I was trusted to develop new gallery spaces, organize city events, and accept teaching positions. I had the confidence to approach many positions of responsibility because of the experience I gained through organizing this event. As an alumni and ambassador of the metals program at ECU, I point to the Metals Symposium as an important element in addition to the excellence in mentorship that this school can offer. The programing has also expanded to include interdisciplinary topics that benefit artists of a variety of media.
